About Us
Founded in 1994, the Monsoon Accessorize Trust supports and empowers people around the world from disadvantaged communities. It helps drive change through a range of education, healthcare and income-generation projects as well as emergency relief.
We believe that working with trusted charities on the ground maximises the impact of every donation – and we always choose partners with strong expertise in their local communities.
“At the time I wanted to support vulnerable individuals in the craft communities who were supporting us, to help build better futures. Specifically underprivileged women and children in the most need of healthcare and education”.
– Peter Simon, Founder
Our impact so far
Over €8.5 million raised
Over 60 charities supported
Over 250,000 lives changed
Turquoise Mountain
We partner with Turquoise Mountain to provide pre-primary education and English classes to over 100 children across two villages in Bamiyan, Afghanistan.
As Bamiyan is home to a wide variety of artisan traditions (which hero women artisans), we have also launched a new Artisan Support Programme.
This means we can work with local embroiderers and craftspeople who make two pieces of traditional dress – the grand afghani and the barak – and support two existing Afghan Female Artisan Markets. This support empowers women to create an income and helps the local economy, too.
WaterHarvest
We are proud to help WaterHarvest provide water-irrigation supports to over 2,000 families in rural India.
Here, the access to water drastically increases the quality of life to people in the rural community and means women and children – who usually walk miles to fetch water – can instead focus on school or work.
Prakratik Society
We work with Prakratik Society to provide resources for the Environment Education Programme at Fateh Public School in Ranthambore, India.
20 years ago, the Trust funded the construction of a wing of the Fateh school. Today, we continue to support the school with an environmental programme that teaches students understand how to support their local biodiversity and respect the national forest, which is next door.
Shalom Global Foundation – Aashiana Project
This year, the Trust and AASHIANA have collaborated to support HIV positive families by providing them with nutrition and educational support in Delhi.
We are also funding a 12-month programme to help women affected by HIV by training them to make jewellery for a living. This enables them to earn money and support their families.
Jeevika
Period poverty is one of the #1 issues affecting women around the world today. So, we’re funding our partner Jeevika to support the health of more than 5000 women in rural India.
Our donation will provide eco-disposable sanitary products to women and girls, reproductive-health education in local villages and training in the production of sanitary napkins – supporting a sustainable income for women in the community (and access to hygiene products).
